What a privilege it is to be saved, and to be called and equipped to preach the gospel and pastor the Lord’s church! My wife and I were called here in August 2014 and immediately felt right at home. We are so excited to be ministering for the Lord at Bethel Baptist Church.

I came to faith in Jesus Christ a bit later in life because I simply ran from the Lord. My father was a Southern Baptist pastor for over fifty years, but being a pastor’s kid doesn’t mean you get saved early and follow the Lord right way. I was baptized when I was eight years old but was not saved. As I grew up I lived my life as I wanted to, going my own way, and not giving the Lord or His church much if any of my time or attention. Even after getting married my wife and I did not get serious with the Lord and His church for some time. It was not until new year’s eve of 1990 that the Lord clearly spoke to my heart about the way I was living and if I did not turn to Him I would wind up destroying my family. I turned my life over to the Lord and what a difference a saving relationship with Jesus has made!

I am a twenty-one year Navy veteran, retiring in 1998 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. I have been preaching since 1997 and pastoring since 2001. My wife Dena and I were married in 1984 and have been blessed with three beautiful daughters, three wonderful sons-in-law, and four awesome grandchildren (aren't they all?).

I received my Associate’s Degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Tifton, GA), my Bachelor’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University (Plainview, TX; and Pearl Harbor, HI extension campus), and both my Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

The one verse of scripture that has transformed my life and meant so much to me is Romans 12:1-2.
